Reading, who are a place below the Hatters, provided a stern, physical test for Nathan Jones’ side and the Jamaica international viewed the seventh clean sheet of the season as the biggest take-away on the night.

“It was a battle, it was a difficult game,” the 28-year-old said during his post-match press conference. “We knew they were going to come here and make it difficult for us. We are pleased that we got a clean sheet, another point on the board. Obviously a little bit disappointed that we didn’t get all three points, but we’ll take the one.

“We like to get on top of teams, spin them and get control in their half and just keep on battering teams. I think they try to, with the big man Andy Carroll up front, they tried to find him a lot, and we knew it was going to be one of those games. It wasn’t the best, but it’s a clean sheet and that’s a positive in itself.”

Assessing his own performances, it was the 17th match this season in which Amari’i has played the full 90 minutes.

“That’s the Championship, there are a lot of games back to back and we’ve just got to deal with it the best we can. We’ve got to make sure we recover right and live our life right away from football as well.

“It’s tough but we still love it and want to play the games back-to-back, so we’re not going to complain, we are just going to grind through and keep playing as many as we can.

“It was gruelling. We know it wasn’t good, but to not lose and still get a point from the game, we are pleased that it’s another draw. We haven’t been defeated so the little unbeaten run goes on.”

Looking ahead to the weekend’s game against Blackpool, the defender added: “Every game is tough anyway, but Blackpool is going to be no different. We just want to go there and make sure that we get the three points this time.”
