Amari'i Bell | "We need to be more ruthless"

Amari’i Bell shared his disappointment after the Hatters had to settle for a point against Preston North End on Wednesday evening.

For the second away match in a row, Town’s lead was cancelled out from the penalty spot which doesn’t tell the story of a dominant display at Deepdale, having had a number of chances to leave Lancashire with maximum points.

Despite extending their league unbeaten run to five matches, Bell and his team-mates were disappointed not to take advantage of the ten-men Lilywhites.

“We have dominated, we had a good few chances to go up but we haven’t put them away. It is one of those games where they’ve gone down to ten men. We haven’t really controlled the game in the way we should have and we let them in and gave them a goal they shouldn’t have got.

“I definitely don’t think they deserved that (the goal), Bell continued. "You need to concentrate for the full 90 minutes and we haven’t in that instance and it has cost us.

“We have to take the positives and we need to work hard as well because we should have been out of sight by half-time. We had a few chances, I had one myself which I should have kept on target, but it was one of those games. We have to dust ourselves down and go again.

Bell was directly involved in the opener, setting up Carlton Morris’ 12th goal of the season with a looping cross from the left-hand-side.

“I’m pleased to have a hand in the goal,” the Jamaica international said. “It is always nice to be on the side of the game but as you can tell I’m disappointed because I felt like we should have won it.

“We need to be ruthless. When we played Coventry we only scored one goal – we need to start scoring more goals and keep going back to the clean-sheets we were getting before. They give you a good base to start from and helps you to win the game.”

In a matter of days, the Hatters face-off against league leaders Burnley at Kenilworth Road and the defender knows he and the team will have to be at their best if they are to get a positive result.

“They are top of the league for a reason. We know that we have to be on our game, there isn’t a lot of time to get ready but we’re going to do everything we can to put ourselves in the best position and get ready for the game.”
