It was a third shut-out of the season following clean sheets against Birmingham City and Swansea City but the winning feeling was Horvath’s main focus at full-time.
Unfazed by the home record of six matches without a win prior to the fixture against Rovers, Horvath wasn’t surprised that the fortunes have now changed.
“It has been a long time coming,” the 27-year-old admitted. “We’ve put in some good performances this year at home but I think I can speak for the whole team and say we’re really happy with this performance. Offensively and defensively we were very solid today.
“It’s a squad thing. we all have to trust one another and if the manager wants to make some changes, then it is his decision depending on what the game requires. For me it is about trusting one another, if something goes wrong, we have each other’s backs and we continue to fight.
The USA international was relatively untested following a sound defensive display from the back five in front of him, including the returning Reece Burke who scored a fine goal from 25 yards – which wasn’t all too surprising for the goalkeeper to see.
“Burkey scored some nice goals in training yesterday and he told me he was going to score a banger, and he lived up to his word!”
Settling into life in Bedfordshire now 10 matches into the season, Horvath reflected on what has been a positive start to his time in a Luton shirt.
“I have enjoyed every single moment here so far. It’s a fantastic club, ever since day one I felt welcomed by everybody from kitchen staff to coaching staff, players, physios, the whole club. It’s a really nice club and so far I have enjoyed it.
“It is nice when you come to a team especially on loan, sometimes it doesn’t go so well but I’m here, all in for what the manager and what the club wants to do, what their goals are, I’m all in for it and I want the best for the club. I’m not here for myself, I’m here for the team and I want Luton to achieve their goals and aspirations as well. If I’m a part of it then that is an extra bonus.”
For the Nottingham Forest loanee, his personal attention now switches to the national team ahead of two friendlies against Japan and Saudi Arabia during the break.
“Tomorrow I will go away to Germany for a 10-day camp, and we will see what happens. It will be a good 10 days with the group, last camp before the World Cup and then I have to come back here and continue what I have been doing. I think it’s 10 or 11 games before the World Cup break so it’s not to take the foot off the gas, we have to keep going.”
