Press Conference | Rob Edwards pre West Brom (H)

Manager Rob Edwards said his side have to continue being relentless in order to be successful at the end of the season, starting with Saturday’s home match against West Brom.

With three wins out of three in the league, Luton Town currently find themselves in seventh position, outside of the play-off places on goal difference.

Saturday’s opposition have been equally impressive as of late, and since Carlos Corberan took over at The Hawthorns, they have moved out of the relegation zone and are now within touching distance of the top six.

In front of a sold-out Kenilworth Road, the boss wants his players to maintain their levels and continue fighting ‘every day and every game’.

“We have to be relentless in what we do,” Edwards said in his pre-match press conference. “We have to keep working hard, keep training really hard and keep doing the things that get us success and try and keep doing them better. It’s about being relentless now, that is what football is really, especially in the EFL. 46 games of really hard work and it can be a slog but if you’re successful, it can be really worth it.”

He also believes that one key factor is going to separate the teams in the hunt for a play-off place.

“Consistency. There are fine margins in all of the games. Let’s be very honest, we’re very pleased with the recent results and that’s great and that’s down to the players quality, hard-work and desire, things that we have spoken about. But those games were fine margins as well, it could have gone the other way and I’m well aware of that and we are so again, it’s feet on the ground and keep working really, really hard.

“Pretty much every game, not all, in the Championship are won by the odd goal, they’re very, very tight. We have a team coming at the weekend that is in very good form so we’re expecting another very difficult challenge and another tight game I would have thought.”

Edwards, however, will be without midfielder Luke Freeman for the foreseeable future after the 30-year-old had surgery on a groin injury.

“Freezer unfortunately, had to have more assessments after picking up his groin injury against QPR when he came on, he’s had to have surgery on there, which he had a couple of days ago, and so he’ll be missing now for a number of weeks. At the moment we will give him support, he’s been in today to see everyone, but he’ll be out for a few weeks. It’s frustrating for any player, they don’t want to be out, they want to play football.”
