Adrian Forbes’ young side have yet to pick up a point from their three away games in the competition this season and know nothing less than a win this evening will see them eliminated at the first hurdle.

The Town lost their opening fixture 4-1 against the Blues back in September but with home advantage on their side for the first time this term, Forbes is hoping his players can be inspired to turn the tables on their Category 1 academy opponents.

“The players know exactly what is expected of them,” he said. “They know we haven’t won a game so this is an ideal opportunity for us.

“Chelsea are a strong team and we know that. But we will set-up as best we can and I know the boys will want to give a good account of themselves.

“It is also an opportunity to showcase what we’re all about, especially at Kenilworth Road. The three games we’ve had so far haven’t been a fair reflection of us and how we can play.

“It’s great that we’re playing at Kenilworth Road, hopefully there will be a decent crowd and the boys can use that to their advantage.

“We know it’ll be tough, but we’ve prepared right. We know we have to battle first and then our quality can shine through.

“As a coach I’m after a positive performance and result to show the fans the future of our academy is bright.”
