Team news | As you were for Burnley

Town defenders Tom Lockyer and Reece Burke are fit to feature in Tuesday night’s Premier League game with Burnley at Kenilworth Road.

Both centre-halves were forced off during Saturday’s 2-1 win at Everton but manager Rob Edwards has no concerns about their fitness for the visit of the Clarets.

“We took a couple of knocks which forced us into the changes, but Locks and Reece have both come through training today and will be okay,” said the boss.

“Burkey’s got a sore groin. We’ll need to manage him over the next week or so. We’ve assessed him, he’s all clear and he’s trained so there’s no problems and that’s a big plus.

“We’ve got no fresh injury worries from the weekend so the squad will be the squad from Saturday.”

Edwards was in good spirits at his Monday press conference with the media keen to hear the manager’s thoughts after the club’s first top-flight victory since 1992.

“It wasn’t a weight off our shoulders – it had been coming because the performances had been good,” he said.

“The lads are in great spirits and have been every day.

“It’s a great feeling to get that win but it was back to business quite quickly.”

Business indeed comes in the shape of a Burnley side who visit Kenilworth Road without a win to their name this season.

However, Edwards is under no illusions of how tough the game will be.

“Let me tell you they are a very good team,” he said.

“They have started the season well, they’ve played City, United, Villa, Spurs, Newcastle. They had 60 per cent possession against Manchester United.

“They’ve improved since last season. Last year they dominated the league, were the best team by a country mile. They’ve spent a reported £100 million and in Vincent Kompany they have a brilliant manager.

“They are in a false position.”
